Thailand’s second largest National Park, Khao Yai National Park covers an area of 2,168 square kilometers. Khao Yai is famous for its distinct landscape dense, virgin forests, streams, waterfalls and high-altitude plains, which are a safe haven for wildlife including several mammal species such as elephants, tigers, gibbons and deer, and over 300 bird species such as giant hornbills and silver pheasants. In addition, the flora and fauna are impressive, with more than 2,500 kinds of trees, plants and flowers. Other attractions in the Park include beautiful waterfalls, and jungle treks, which start in Nakhon Nayok.

Ko Chang National Park is a collection of over 40 large and small islands. The island chain is situated in the Gulf of Thailand approximately 8 km. from the coast of Trat province. The main island Ko Chang is the third largest island in Thailand after Phuket and Samui and measures nearly 30km long and almost 14 km wide. The island of Ko Chang has many streams and rivers which are fed by the rainfall collected on the mountainous slopes of the island. Due to the great amount of rainfall here these streams are very clean and supply water all year round. The mountain slopes are covered by dense Tropical Evergreen Forest which due to the historically low level of habitation on the island is largely undisturbed.

The geographical features of the National Park consists of high mountains, including Doi Inthanon, which is the highest mountaintop in Thailand (2,565 meters above the sea level). The forest in the park is one of the country’s very significance and valuable heritage. Forests include Moist Evergreen Forest, Pine forest and Mixed Deciduous Forest, worth in economic like teak and mountain pine. Because of its broad altitudinal range and the cool climate of its upper reaches, the park supports the largest number of bird species of any site in Thailand.
