Two weeks ago, the longest river tunnel in Southeast Asia has opened to traffic in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The Thu Thiem tunnel, which is 1,490m long and 33m wide, allows traffic to pass under the Saigon River, alleviating congestion on the city's Saigon Bridge.
The tunnel is part of the East-West Highway and will help reduce travelling times between the capital and other destinations in the Mekong Delta.
